ROW Services Project Profiles

Corbett-Sugar-Quarry 500kV Transmission Line ROW Improvements

ROW improvements and site preparation along an approximately 68-mile corridor, 15 miles of which were through everglades. This included installation of silt fence, floating, and implementation of other turbidity control measures; vegetation clearing, removal, and mowing as applicable in upland and wetland areas; construction of at-grade and raised unpaved aggregate patrol roads and transmission structure pads; installation of culvert crossings; maintenance of an existing levee road access during construction; installation or modification of fences and gates; as-built survey; and restoration of disturbed areas including removal of debris and excess materials. Approximately 1M tons of material were hauled, including aggregate and fabric. P&J also provided erosion control and implemented an SWPPP.

Limestone to Gibbons Creek 345 kV Transmission Line

Clearing of a 130’-wide ROW along the transmission line corridor and associated vegetation disposal; installation of matting, access roads, fencing, and gates; installation of pipeline crossings, culverts, and construction entrances; development, installation, and maintenance of SWPPP measures during clearing and transmission line construction activities; and restoration of areas disturbed during clearing and construction activities.

Cabin Creek—Cannonsburg Transmission Line Construction

Clearing of 214 acres for new ROW construction; installation of access roads including timber matting; installation, maintenance, and documentation of all SWPPP items; and post-construction restoration. P&J performed 100,000 LF of access road clearing and 215,495 LF of access road construction while operating on steep terrain, which required crews to carve out access.

Midwest Transmission Project

Clearing of a 150’-wide ROW along 135 miles primarily located in Missouri, installation, and maintenance of SWPPP measures during clearing and transmission line construction activities, and restoration of areas disturbed during clearing and construction activities.

Substation Security Walls

Construction of 14’-high security walls with motorized sliding gates for multiple substations in Florida. Walls are 12’ above ground and 2’ below ground and ballistic rated to protect electrical substations. P&J is also responsible for data collection and field visits; SUE, geotechnical, and survey services; permit research; engineering design and permitting; post design services; and construction services.

Hazard Tree Removal Program

P&J’s hazard tree removal program focuses on off-the-ROW hazard trees, which are managed, patrolled, and cut by P&J. This allows the owner to receive program updated and monitor program progress from on source instead of multiple contractors. P&J Vegetation Reliability Team is providing pre-inspection listing, auditing, and cutting danger trees across three regions and eleven states within the northeastern and central United States along 35,000-miles of ROW within existing overhead line networks. The 11 states include the east region (Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Virginia), the north region (Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio), and the south region (Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas). The project includes a total of 35,180 miles of existing transmission lines, ranging in voltage from 23kv up to 765kv. Project Highlights: 41,782 Trees identified and marked • 24,584 trees removed • 2,974 miles of transmission line inspected • Listing & felling operations across 5 states.
