Women in Construction Week

In March, we celebrated Women in Construction Week! As a woman-owned business, we take particular pride in the women of P&J, in the field and in the office. Thank you to Melanie, Ivy, Jessica, Mary, Courtney, Alycia, Abby, Alexandra, and Shatoya for sharing your experiences as part of the P&J Family and the construction industry as a whole.

If you missed their videos, check them out below, and get to know these valuable team members and what they bring to the Phillips family of companies!

Day 1: Getting Your Start

Meet Melanie, Ivy, Jessica, Mary, and Courtney, all women of P&J! We met them on the job to ask about their journey in construction, and the first thing we learned was that there’s no one way to start your career in the industry.

Day 2: Advice For Others

The construction industry is full of stereotypes about who should be performing what work. Our advice? Don’t be intimidated—women like Melanie, Ivy, Jessica, Mary, and Courtney, are doing the work throughout P&J to find solutions and get things done.

Day 3: Women in Construction with Avis Phillips

As a woman-owned construction firm, we love celebrating National Women in Construction Week. Our founder Avis Phillips has a few words about her own experience to start us off—stay tuned this week to meet some of the women building projects that matter throughout P&J.

Day 4: What’s Next?

At P&J we pride ourselves on our commitment to moving our company, and our team, forward. If you choose to make a career with us, we’ll offer the tools and training you need to excel for years to come, and with no shortage of meaningful work on the horizon, you can build a future with P&J. Thank you to Melanie, Ivy, Jessica, Mary, and Courtney for sharing their time, stories, and insight with us during this year’s National Women in Construction Week!

Day 5: The Office

We’re closing out the week with women in the office! Behind every field operation is a group of dedicated individuals helping us bid the work, track our financials, innovate processes, and tell our story. P&J HQ is full of women bringing their unique perspectives to the challenges of our industry.
