At P&J our greatest resource is our employees – from the seasoned operational managers and supervisors who keep our crews safe and productive, to our craftspeople who perform the work, to our corporate service teams who oversee our fleet, financial and administrative, informational, and technological systems. We are proud to have many second and third generation employees that have chosen to build their careers with P&J. We currently employ more than 1,000 individuals and sufficient bench strength to provide multiple layers of redundancy to serve our key markets – Heavy Civil Construction, Power, and Disaster Response.
Through our sister company, National Fleet Services (NFS), P&J has access to an extensive fleet of more than 750 heavy and specialized pieces of construction equipment. This equipment has the latest grade control technology, allowing us to move material faster, smarter, and with more accuracy. NFS has two equipment service centers, one in Tennessee and one in Florida, manned by a workforce of highly skilled mechanics and service technicians that maintains our equipment, whether in the field or in our shops, which enables our organization to control both costs and availability. P&J also maintains national accounts with major equipment vendors which provides us with the ability to acquire and rent equipment when required efficiently and cost-effectively.
Having operated since the 1950s, P&J has seen major changes in technology over the decades. From modifying equipment in-house, to developing tracking software and real-time databases, we constantly seek to partner our construction expertise with evolving technology to better serve our clients. In the ten years since we first deployed our Automated Debris Management System (ADMS), one of the first contractor-developed ADMSs on a USACE relief effort, we’ve built on this knowledge to create specialized vegetation management systems that enable us to provide Right-Of-Way (ROW) maintenance services with the best possible analysis and precision.
P&J possesses “best-in-class” financial ratios concerning liquidity and leverage. We maintain excellent vendor relations and hold a D&B rating of 5A1. Our long-term key financial relationships allow us to undertake the vast and complex projects and aggressive schedules we often encounter in our key markets.
