Ongoing
P&J has maintained an ongoing relationship with American Electric Power (AEP) over the past 20 years, providing right-of-way (ROW) clearing services for capital and maintenance projects. P&J crews have been tasked to AEP to complete large new capital transmission line corridor clearing projects and technical tree removal projects in high-density population centers.
P&J has assembled a skilled workforce capable of safely performing high-risk technical tree removals in close proximity to energized high voltage transmission lines, and we have established ourselves with AEP vegetation management as their preferred “heavy lift” vegetation contractor. P&J crews work in Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Indiana, Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma and support AEP’s overall vegetation program system wide. Project work sites include remote locations with difficult access and/or environmentally sensitive areas. We implement a heavy iron mechanical approach for ROW clearing, versus a predominantly hand-labor-intensive approach that involves the use of excavators, mechanical harvesters (feller bunchers, jareffs, shin cutters, bucket trucks, dozers with winches, and Hydro Ax and skid steers with fecon heads), and automated grinding equipment. P&J routinely blends our mechanical approach and skilled hand labor to deliver best value services to AEP system-wide.
