PRONGHORN RAIL FACILITY CONSTRUCTION

The Pronghorn Rail Facility is the only rail loading facility in the emerging Powder River Basin and Central Wyoming served by both the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway and Union Pacific Railroad. The facility is a double loop design with sufficient track to accommodate two 118-car unit trains simultaneously, and has a flexible 14-car loading system capable of loading an entire unit train in less than 24 hours.
Phillips & Jordan provided all of the civil site development construction for the facility including construction of a tank battery, tank ring foundations for 200,000 gallon storage tanks, a truck unloading facility, fire ponds, canopy, roadway upgrades and widening, and water supply and delivery systems. Phillips & Jordan also constructed a shop, office building, and generator/laydown yards; furnished and installed culverts and cattle guards; and maintained dust, erosion, and traffic controls.
