Hand & Power Tool Safety

Hand & Power Tool Safety

We’ve seen a concerning trend in hand injuries across our organization, many of which have been related to hand or power tool use. While the severity of these injuries has varied, all of them could’ve been prevented with proper planning and safe work practices. If you’re on our projects, you should’ve taken some time to focus on hand tools during your Toolbox Talks so that we can all take better care of ourselves and our team members.

To help remind us all of the ways we can protect ourselves, our Safety Group recently released a video emphasizing the importance of maintenance and inspection, hand placement, proper PPE, and planning when using hand tools, and we hope you had a chance to review it over the last few days. If not, you can check it out again here!

Beyond our job sites, hand and power tool safety practices are important in our daily lives. Any safe practices you use at work can also keep you safe while working around the house. Power tools and hand tools are a valuable part of building, big and small, but we have to take the risks seriously to put People First and avoid injury.
